I bought my 68 SS396 Camaro new in 68' to race in NHRA stock
eliminator. But the combination of engine (375hp/396ci) and 3 speed automatic
that I wanted to run never materialized in NHRA as a legal combination so the
project was scrapped and I drove the car on the street until I got out of the
Navy in Oct 68. With in 2 weeks of being home I took the Camaro off the road,
bought a very used 62' Chevy wagon as a tow car, and started to build the Camaro
for drag racing.......
I raced it from 1968 to 1979 in 2 classes - H/MP with an INLINE Chevy Six
Called "SIXFIEND" & C/SM as it is now- we were 1977 Modified Champs at Raceway
Park - Englishtown, NJ - we raced from Canada to Florida and Maine to
Indiana.

with the Camaro after sitting for 30 years.
